Successful Completion of ISYFashion's Introduction to Image Consulting  (Fashion, shopping, wardrobe design) A person who works in this area may also be referred to as a "Stylist" or "Fashion Consultant." 24 hours (3 days) of instruction.    SEE AGENDA

Successful Completion of ISYFashion's Introduction to Business Etiquette (8 hours divided into 4 hours on event and dining etiquette and 4 hours on business and communication etiquette, including "netiquette.) Many image consultants provide services to individuals and companies on the basics of etiquette. 8 hours (1 day) of instruction.

THE CLASS FORMAT

  • A class must consist of at least 3 students but no more than 20.
  • Class time includes direct instruction and case studies. The three day Introduction to Image Consulting (Fashion/Styling) includes a Practicum which involves working with a client and her clothing. SEE AGENDA
  • Tuition for the three day Introduction to Image Consulting is $1200 per student and includes text, color analysis drapes, and reproducible materials. The rate per student decreases according to a sliding scale for classes of 5 or more.
  • Tuition for the one day Etiquette Training Class is $500 per student. If added on to the end of the three day Introduction to Image Consultant Training, it is reduced to $200 per student.
  • Classes forming outside of the Washington DC Metro area must arrange and pay for training venue and Mary's accommodations.

To form a class, arrange the date with Mary. The deposit of $500 is required for the class to proceed and will be credited toward the total balance. A refund will not be given if class is cancelled within 72 hours of the start of the program results.

Must I have experience in the field to register?  No, the program is meant to be introductory and is perfect for someone who has no experience or education in fashion or etiquette.

I am not with a group or organization and only closed classes are scheduled right now. What should I do? Sign up for one-on-one coaching. If you do this early, you will receive the Class Format tuition rate.

I already have a degree in Fashion Design. Do I really need to take the fashion classes? Yes. Image Consulting uses very little design knowledge.

Does Mary train men as well? Men and women are welcome to attend any training class formed or complete the correspondence course. 

What's the text and can I get it ahead of time? The text is a curriculum developed for Elegance In Style (Now Success In Style, www.successinstyle.org.) The curriculum takes a "person-centered" fashion approach. Yes, you may have the text sent to you once registered.

ONE ON ONE COACHING FORMAT

  • This format is the most effective for mastery of the material. 
  • Coaching includes direct instruction and case studies. The three day Introduction to Image Consulting Program includes a Practicum with a client and her clothing.  SEE AGENDA.
  • Tuition for three days of coaching is $1500 and includes text, color analysis drapes, and reproducible materials.
  • Tuition for an additional day of etiquette training is $500.
  • Coaching students who require Mary to travel to a location other than the greater Washington DC/ Baltimore areas will be responsible for arranging/ paying for training venue and Mary's accommodations.

FAQ's
I can't travel to DC so I need Mary to come to me. What makes a good venue for training? Many students use meeting rooms at community centers or classrooms at local colleges. Some use clubs, hotel meeting rooms, fitness center meeting space, or office space to rent.

Day One: 9:30 - 6:00

ORIENTATION: Overview of class, logistics, ground rules, philosophy of curriculum

CLASS ONE: Your Personal Consultation
You get to be the client to learn how a consultation works and to know what you need personally from the fashion world, specifically your personal Elements of Style, your best styles, how to accessorize with current fashion, and where to shop for your best values.

CLASS TWO: Debriefing of Personal Consultation; We'll discuss the content and procedure of the consultation and go into detail on the Elements of Style; 1. Body Type and the Strategies for creating an Optical Illusion of Proportion, 2. Fashion Personality, 3. Color Palette through Personal Color Analysis.

CLASS THREE: An Introduction to the World of Fashion; What is beauty? What is clothing? What is fashion? What's the difference between pret-a-porter and haute couture and why should you care?

CLASS FOUR: An Historical Overview of Fashion; When did it all begin? What names should you know? What's the "New Look" and who was responsible for it? How do you pronounce Givenchy?
Day Two: 9:30 - 6:00

CLASS FIVE: Review of the Elements of Style with practice in color analysis.

CLASS SIX: Understanding the Client
Who is the client? What does she need? What's your personal theme or philosophy for helping women dress well?

CLASS SEVEN: Client-Centered Practices
What's your skill set? What are your services? How do you conduct a closet inventory and escort a client to shopping venues? How do you fashion forecast for your clients? What are your tools? How will you market your services?

CLASS EIGHT: Building A Support Network; What do you need to know about skin care, hair, and makeup and to whom do you send your clients?
Day Three: 9:30 - 6:00

CLASS NINE: The Art of the Personal Consultation
Let's face it: It all starts here! You can't give a talk on fashion, a seminar, or even blog about styles until you've worked with a real woman. In this class you'll learn the steps and the best practices.

CLASS TEN: Case Studies
​You will study individuals, their challenges, their Elements of Style, their shopping needs, and you will simulate a personal consultation for each of them

THE PRACTICUM
This is the big gig! You will provide a real-life personal consultation with a client. The steps will include:
